Melanie Perkins - Director

Melanie Perkins has had a successful and wide ranging career in private equity. Educated at St Anne’s College at Oxford University with an MA in Physics, she is a clear thinker with an analytic mind. That combined with her wealth of experience across a range of sectors make her a valuable addition to the Key Fund board.

Melanie is a member the Finance and Risk Committee and the Deputy Chair of the Investment Panel.

Her experience in private equity and investment, particularly working with small businesses, means she’s acutely aware of the impact funding can have on creating employment and wealth.

Despite retiring from full-time work, she gives her time and expertise via non-executive positions at Big Society Capital and Sheffield University, as well as being a Trustee of Age UK Sheffield and a member of the Advisory Panel at Finance Yorkshire.

She’s proud of the work Key Fund has done, investing in businesses that banks wouldn’t, and addressing many social problems in the region as a result. Strategically, she also sees Key Fund as making waves, putting the sector and social investment on the government agenda, thus helping ensure disadvantaged areas access the right money at the right time.
