Stephen Hodgson - Outreach Finance Support

Stephen has a natural inclination to solve problems combined with an innate keenness to help. So, joining Key Fund in 2018 was a perfect fit, particularly with his role of Outreach Finance Support.

Originally covering maternity leave, Stephen fitted in well with the team. Key Fund then went on to identify a further need for Stephen’s skills; many social enterprises struggle to manage their accounts. Stephen stepped in. He now advises on the efficient use of packages such as Xero and QuickBooks.

Originally from Whitehaven in Cumbria, Stephen graduated from Newcastle University in Economics and Accounting. With an aptitude for numbers, his ambition was always to work in accountancy. He moved to Sheffield in 1978 to work with a subsidiary of RTZ.

Prior to Key Fund, 17 years were spent working at a family-run potato farmer and trader, serving major consumer brands. When the company downsized Stephen opted for early retirement. In his search for a part-time role, for Stephen it all fell into place at Key Fund. After working for 40 years in hard-nosed commercial industry, he finds Key Fund’s empathetic approach and the social mission of those he supports infinitely refreshing.
